Geometric abstract oil painting. Brilliant depth with blocks of illuminated yellow , red browns, blue and teal areas. Aerial view, grid pattern layers of paint build a network of intersecting lines and geometric forms that echo the order of the urban grid. Areas of colour and texture shift across the surface, reflecting the density and changing pace of a city environment.
The title refers to Guernsey Street. The painting responds to the feeling of navigating city streets — the repeated blocks, crossings, and pathways that shape how people move through New York. It’s a simplified interpretation of the urban landscape, translated into an abstract visual structure based on the structure of city streets and urban grids. The composition draws from the layout of New York. Using lines, shapes, and colour to suggest the pattern of streets, buildings, and movement through the city. The work focuses on structure and rhythm rather than a literal map.
