This large-scale oil painting draws from the visual language of Rothko through its muted palette, expansive colour fields, and contemplative presence. Deep reds and burnt oranges are embedded with scratched marks, traces of gesture, and the recurring motif of an arrow. Layers of transparent oil colour and wax drift into one another, creating depth and an atmosphere that feels both grounded and weightless.
Rather than describing a particular place, the painting invites a slower way of looking. The surface reveals itself gradually through subtle shifts of colour, incised lines, and weathered marks that suggest memory, direction, and the passage of time.
